The land where Roosevelt Square is located was part of the Prado family's properties and was donated to the Municipality of São Paulo at the beginning of the 20th century. In this area, adjacent to the Consolação Church, the Seminary for Female Students operated until 1950, when the group of buildings was demolished, giving way to a large parking lot. In the 1960s, road expansion led to the proposal to create the square and construct an architectural complex that would integrate the avenues at different levels. This project was completed in 1970 and underwent several subsequent renovations until the reform began in 2010, which is the current configuration of Roosevelt Square.
