Ele se desenvolveu em Utrecht, na Holanda, no in&iacute;cio do s&eacute;culo XVII. O estilo pode ser visto em v&aacute;rias formas de arte, mas era mais frequentemente usado em trabalhos em metal. O estilo &eacute; derivado de obras gr&aacute;ficas do s&eacute;culo 16 dos maneiristas italianos, embora os ourives holandeses Adam e Paulus van Vianen sejam frequentemente creditados com sua inven&ccedil;&atilde;o. </span></p>
