República Square <p>República Square became the core of what was called the new center of São Paulo at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the area had already been a meeting point for the population since the previous century, when bullfights took place there, an activity that gave the place its name, known as Largo dos Curros. The new name of the square came as a reference to the Proclamation of the Republic at the end of the 19th century.</p>
