Designing clothing, accessories, and ensembles for personal wear. For the design of clothing, accessories, and ensembles intended to create an appearance characteristic of a particular period, person, place, or thing, especially (but not exclusively) for theatrical performances, use "costume design." For the concept of a prevailing, usually short lived custom, usage, or style in clothing, cars, restaurants, and other personal possessions and services, use "fashion."
