Santos, Vânia Mara Alves Lima 2017-06-01 pt-BR 2026-08-03 10:24:26 School of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design Library (Vila Penteado Building) 2026-08-03 10:24:26 Built in 1902, the Art Nouveau–style building was designed by Carlos Ekman to serve as the residence of the family of Count Álvares Penteado. The building was donated to the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1949, when it began to house the School of Architecture, Urbanism, and Design of the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP) until 1968. Currently, the building no longer functions as the school’s main headquarters; however, following structural renovations, it now hosts graduate-level teaching activities and undergraduate elective courses, as well as research, cultural, and extension activities, in addition to consultation and research of non-circulating materials from the Graduate Library. The Vila Penteado was listed as a protected heritage site by the Council for the Defense of the Historical, Artistic, Archaeological, and Tourist Heritage of the State of São.
