Designed by Rino Levi in the 1950s, the Clock Tower of the University of São Paulo was built in 1973. The monument consists of two slabs measuring 50 meters in height and 10 meters in width, separated by a service staircase, as well as two mechanical clocks—one facing the university’s rectorate and the other oriented toward the main access avenue to the campus. The structure also features sculptures by Elisabeth Nobiling, in which twelve panels symbolize the principal fields of study of the university.
