The Museu da Energia de Itú is housed in a building constructed in 1887 using the traditional techniques of rammed earth and wattle and daub. The building, which features Portuguese tiles adorning the façade of the townhouse, underwent restoration and revitalization works in 1998 and was inaugurated to the public as a museum in 1999.
