Maria Luisa and Oscar Americano Residence

Maria Luisa and Oscar Americano Residence

Designed in 1948 by Oswaldo Bratke, the Oscar Americano Residence reflects the modernist principles that characterize the architect’s work, emphasizing the integration between indoor and outdoor spaces, the relationship with its surroundings, and the predominance of pure, horizontal volumes.
In 1980, the residence, having been transformed into a foundation, was opened to the public and began housing a collection composed of objects belonging to the founders’ family. The collection is organized into two thematic sections: Colonial Brazil and Imperial Brazil.
