Built between 1696 and 1724, the Golden Chapel, also known as the Chapel of the Third Order of Saint Francis, is part of the Franciscan Complex of Recife. In the Baroque style, the building features rich ornamentation, with its interior lined with cedar wood carvings covered in fine layers of gilding, representing the economic power of the sugar plantation owners of the period.
