The Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand (MASP), a non-profit institution, was founded in the city of São Paulo in 1947. Currently, the museum, located on Avenida Paulista, is composed of two buildings.
The Lina Bo Bardi Building, designed by the architect herself and inaugurated in 1968, serves as the museum’s headquarters and exhibition space, becoming a landmark of modern architecture and one of the principal symbols of Brutalist architecture in the city of São Paulo.
The Pietro Maria Bardi Building, inaugurated in 2025, was designed by the firm METRO Arquitetos Associados, led by Martin Corullon and Gustavo Cedroni. The building is inspired by vertical museum typologies and includes an underground passageway connecting the two buildings.
