Inspired by the Imperial Palace of Petrópolis, architect Wladimir Alves de Souza designed the manor house, which was built in 1945 and served as the home of former mayor Fábio da Silva Prado and his wife. The building, in the Neoclassical style, is composed of a central block with two floors and two lateral wings and served as the headquarters of the Brazilian Museum of the Home (Museu da Casa Brasileira) from 1972 to 2023.
