Villa Lobos Park is located in the Alto de Pinheiros neighborhood, in the western part of the city of São Paulo. Until the end of the 1980s, a waste disposal site operated there, receiving waste from the Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns do Estado de São Paulo – CEAGESP, which is located nearby. When the state government decided to create an urban park there, the waste was buried, which caused the park to be raised several meters above street level. The park's design was created by architect Décio Tozzi, and the inauguration was carried out in stages, opening to the public for the first time in 1997.
