Eduardo Kneese de Mello Library

Originally, the Library of the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo operated in the Vila Penteado building, designed by Carlos Ekman. In 1969, the institution moved to the Vilanova Artigas Building, designed by architects João Batista Vilanova Artigas and Carlos Cascaldi and constructed in the same year, using exposed concrete and glass. The six floors that make up the building are interconnected by wide ramps with gentle and varying slopes. From 1972 onward, the Vila Penteado building came to house the FAUUSP Graduate Program, and in 1974 a branch library was established in the same building, which became known as the Graduate Library
