Built between 1926 and 1930, the building was designed by architect Luiz Signorelli in an eclectic style for the government, housing the State Department of Public Security of Minas Gerais and the Office of the Attorney General. In 2009, restoration and adaptation works began with the aim of transforming the building into a cultural space. The Banco do Brasil Cultural Center Belo Horizonte is listed by the State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais (IEPHA-MG).
